Worcestershire set in the West Midlands is renowned for it’s mix of vast countryside, landscape and heritage towns. Malt House Cottage located in Upton upon Severn is the ideal spot for accommodating everyone’s entertainment. The area includes not only some of the best scenic surroundings in the UK, and also offers lots of be enjoyed including; hiking, fishing, boating, birdwatching, drinking in local pubs, various music festivals – throughout the year, theatres, museums, art galleries, farm shops and learning of the interesting history of Upton upon Severn.

 

In one direction out of our gate and along the river, we are 100 yards from The Ham, which is an SSSI (Site of special scientific interest) and also an ancient grassland.  In the other direction, a few hundred yards is the Upton bridge, the old bridge featured highly in the Battle of Worcester.

The Malvern Hills

Designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty the Malvern Hills has plenty of short and long walks for sight sightseeing. Simply walk or park up at the British Camp car park and the hills are at the foot of your feet. Opposite this car park features a small cabin for food and refreshments.

Malvern Theatre

Enjoy light hearted theater at this iconic place. Since 1885 it has been noted for its arts and famous performances. For tickets and shows you would need to check with Malvern Theatre themselves.

Upton upon Severn – Town

Take a walk in and around the town or alongside the River Severn. With plenty of shops, bars/restaurants and everything in between it is only a 5 minute walk away from the holiday cottage. Upton is well known for holding music events for Jazz, Folk, and Blues. The Sunshine Festival is held once a year.

The Tudor House Museum

As part of visiting Upton upon Severn town you may want to call into it’s local museum. It was built in the 17th Century and has three floors which are devoted to local and interesting historical objects. If you are one for history this is an interesting place to visit.

Clive’s Fruit Farm – Shop

This local farm shop has been built on the ethos of locally produced fruit and vegetables for decades.  With acres of land you are able to pick your very own fresh fruit (when in season) Ideal for couples or families. There is also a local Coffee shop and Juice shed on site to buy refreshments.

Ledbury – Market Town

Just over the brow of the Malvern Hills is the wonderful market town Ledbury. Famous for it’s traditional Tudor buildings, poetry and high-street there is plenty to see/do. Cafes, restaurants and local shops of all kinds.

Worcester – City

For those who want to break up the quiet stay with a busy one, the nearby city of Worcester is not too far. Similarly it features a lot of medieval history and timber buildings with a cathedral, museum as well as all types of shops you would expect to find.
